"Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will: The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to by bonds: But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel.
What then? Notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached;
and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice." Philippians 1:15-18

There is too much here for me to speak on in one comment, I am tired of hip-hop as a whole being attacked especially from people who aint hip-hop never were hip-hop and dont truly understand it, when did the definition of hip-hop become booty shaking, please someone tell me cause I missed that memo....

Ok let me deal with the comment of hip-hop being based on fatherlessness and lookin for idenity...
I wont speak for everybody but the legendary MC Lyte and her brothers Audio Two were on a label First Priority Records started by their father... One of the cats you took gangsta rap to the mainstream Ice Cube of NWA fame often talked about his father's presence in his life in his lyrics. He even had a lyric on his first solo album about feeling himself and standing up to his pops and his pops putting him out the house cause he couldnt live by his pops rules

Run of RUN DMC and his brother Russell had there father in their life and he was a pastor of a church, Run is now Rev Run, I could go on but the whole thing that hip-hop was based on cats having no earthly father and lookin for approval...

Holy hip-hop artist (if you will for lack of a better name) Sean Slaughter is the son of gospel singer Andre Slaughter, i could go on but i think i posted enuf to discount his claim that hip-hop is based on fatherlessness...

now our community the black community has always suffered from the absentness of fathers and several of these boys whose dads werent there have become preachers, so does that mean that they became preachers because of fatherlessness and they preach in teh church because they are looking for acceptance from whoever they can get it cause they didnt have a earthly father....

I lot more to say but I just wanted to address the fatherlessness nonsense first and get the ball rolling to everyone conversing about this video brotha Logan posted....

Preach AJ! I would love to post a a reply video to this. I am trying to wait until I hear from others before I speak my heart about this! It's hard though!

Reply to This

yeah I was gonna wait but the whole fatherlessness origins of hip-hop kinda rubbed me the wrong way, it was hard not to go down the list and name so many more artists to disprove his ignorance!

Who is this guy???

I had to take a few days to reply to this, because I wanted to return fire. But this guy is not the enemy. He is speaking what alot of people, Christians and non-Christian, are feeling. So I pray that the Holy Spirit will deal with each of us (his, mine, and yours) that we aren't doing this music with the wrong motives in our heart.
In 1996, my favorite rapper was Tupac Shakur. I had been hurt by the church, and though I was raised in the church, it was the last place I felt I could find trust. I was dating a young lady that I felt I loved, but I was living in sin with her. I carried so much pain and heartache inside my heart and would rap Tupac's lyrics as if they were my own. One weekend while visiting this lady, I jumped in the shower and started rapping these lyrics ever so passionately.
"I see death around the- corner, anyday
Trying to keep it together, no one lives forever anyway
Strugglin and strivin, my destiny's to die
Keep my finger on the trigger, no mercy in my eyes
In a ball of confusion, I think about my daddy
Madder than a motherf*****, they never shoulda had me
I guess I seen too many murders,
the doctors can't help me
Got me stressin' with my pistol in my
sheets, it ain't healthy
Am I paranoid? - Tell me the truth
I'm out the window with my AK, ready to shoot
Ran out of endo and my mind can't take the stress,
I'm out of breath
Make me wanna kill my damn self,
but I see death around the corner"
God visited me that day, right there in the shower. He asked me why I loved Tupac so much? “Because I feel he understands me!” I replied. He then followed with “Then why do you still feel trapped?” Instantly, God revealed to me so many things! I saw a vision (prior to my deployment to Iraq!) of hundreds of people trapped in underground prisons in a Middle Eastern country. Though heavily guarded, Tupac was able to infiltrate their defenses and he got to the people. Everyone was cheering! But Tupac stopped them and said he couldn’t help them because he didn’t know the way out! I realized that he could relate to me, but couldn’t offer me the help I needed. Only Jesus could be my savior! The Lord showed me that day that I would translate my heart to others through rap and I would be received. I was commissioned to share the good news of my savior Jesus Christ! It doesn’t matter the name of the genre, I MUST tell others about what Jesus did for me! Maybe this pastor hasn’t seen people being delivered through any other music than choirs, hymns, or quartets. But God can use anyone, anything, any music to get His Word to the darkest corners.

The Way Women Dress is the most popular blog post to date
I am so tired of the discussion in and out of church about the way girls dress. In church some don't want pants or the skirt is too short. Some want you to cover every part of your skin. If you walk through the mall you can see enough skin to last...
