Kenya Orphan Rescue Project -KOREP, is a Faith Based Organization (F.B.O’s) Mercy Mission Project, which was founded and launched by Pastor Noah S. Mapesa, in February, the year 2005. Its’ in operational ,under a Faith Based Organization Church Ministry in Western Kenya, Number 24866 ,and titled Lighthouse International Ministries-Kenya, and which was legally Registered in Kenya, on the 11th February 2008,by the Registrar of Societies See our Church website for more information; www.lighthouseinternationalministries-kenya.com.KOREP project is geared towards improving the welfare of the Street, and Poor Orphaned Child in Kenya. Its’ roots originate from Mt; 25/34-45 and Isaiah 58/7-8, where we are urged to consider giving support and help, to the Poor and the Needy People. Notice that major emphasis and priority is given to those who are Poor; which comprise of the Needy, Orphaned and Less fortunate Children, within our Society. Word from the Project Founder & Director;
I Pastor Noah S. Mapesa have been asked as to why I started KOREP. I saw the need to begin this Mercy Mission Project of uniting with Brethren and Friends from all over the world, so that together we can extend our Mercy Hearts and Helping Hands to the very Poor Orphaned and Street Children in Kenya, after being so much challenged and touched by the characteristic love and mercy heart of Jesus Christ. Jesus demonstrated a great love to children and the poor in society, during his entire ministry assignments on Earth. He was the Savior and Lord for the poor, for the blind, for the lame, for the sinners, and for the hungry (Mt 9:36). In Luke 18/6, Jesus said, Let the little Children come to me, and do not forbid them, for of such is the kingdom of God-Amen! Indeed in all his duties, Jesus kept the attitudes of love (1Cor 13:13), taught His disciples to abide in love, so as to be fruitful (John 15:15) and above all He urged them to love one another always (John 15:17). Jesus demonstrated a great love to children and the poor in society, during his entire ministry assignments on Earth. He was the Savior and Lord for the poor, for the blind, for the lame, for the sinners, and for the hungry (Mt 9:36). Indeed in all his duties, Jesus kept the attitudes of love (1Cor 13:13), taught His disciples to abide in love, so as to be fruitful (John 15:15) and above all He urged them to love one another always (John 15:17).
Kenya Orphan Rescue Project-KOREP hence has been my Project Vision dream which started, as a result of my great Love to Children, just as I was so much touched by the Characteristic Love and Mercy Heart of Jesus Christ, who demonstrated a great Love to Children and the Poor in Society. Yes, Mother Teresa of Calcutta once said, “Love in action is seeing a need and doing something about it”. This philosophy has touched so many people in the World including the late Princess Diana of Wales, Nelson Mandela of South Africa( even as he celebrates his 90th Birthday),the Musician celebrity Madonna, Sister Oprah Winfrey,Nwanko Kano the Soccer player from Nigeria who started a Heart Foundation (to help people who have Heart problems) ,plus so many others in the world, who saw the need to establish Foundations, Charitable Organizations, Trusts etc, aimed at enhancing Projects that target on improving the living conditions of the Poor and the Needy in the society and saving Humanity. I started this project, in Kenya with the free will contribution of my little funds and the other Church Members contributions, with an aim of at least supporting 5 Orphaned Children, who had lost their Parents due to HIV/Aids. As at now, the Project has grown up, and has over 100 plus Children, being on our Help Need Program, but still living with their guardians. Nevertheless, our vision is to help 100 plus Children, if God will be with us towards meeting their basic needs, and we intend to place them in An Educational Center, where they will learn, get health care services, access to spiritual empowerment and counseling, get shelter especially to this Children who have no guardians to live with,etc. We thus intend to build this Center in future, just in case we identify Sponsors, or Friends or Partners, who will be willing to assist us in this Fund raising Dream!. Note that since I began this Project, the Lord has not yet so far connected me to Friends,Churches,Ministries,Institutions,or Foundations/Sponsors, Trusts, Partners etc who are willing to hold me hands and we go a head with this dream of assisting these wonderful Children of God-amen.. Therefore my appeal/Prayer is that if you could be touched within your heart and you may wish to Network/Partner or just send your help however little, then just contact us please. All the same, any Sponsor can send his help either financially or materially to these Orphans or any Orphan of his choice. With a contribution of at least US$ 30-40 every month or more, Indeed, one Child can be able to at least meet the main basic needs. We also accept donation Packages or Gift Boxes in form of food, shoes, clothes, books, both for reading/writing, fist aid kits, computers, new or recycled bicycles, medical kits etc aimed at helping these Orphaned and poor Street Children. PROJECT OBJECTIVES
* To empower our Community People towards strongly defending the Orphaned Child from abuse and neglect.
* To collaborate and network with other Faith Based Organizations, Development Partners, Charities, Trusts, Foundations and Individual Sponsors both locally and internationally towards helping the Orphaned Child meet his basic needs.
* To provide an avenue for Legal aid and Counseling to any Orphaned Child who may be a victim of either Family Conflict; Sexual Abuse; Neglect or HIV/Aids stigma or discrimination.
* To spiritually empower the Orphaned Child and help him grow to maturity in morals; prayer; humility etc.
* To actively get involved and participate fully as a Faith Based Organization in the policy formulation with other stakeholders on issues affecting an Orphaned Child

o PROBLEM STATEMENT & JUSTICATION.

+ (Why there’s Need that Propels us to Implement this Project?)
Kenya has observed an upsurge in the number of Orphans, due to the high number of deaths from HIV/Aids related infections. Major studies and Data which have been done by such Organizations as UNICEF; in partnership with the Kenya Demographic Health Survey (KDHS) and the Ministry of Health (MOH) clearly estimates that out of the total Population of 31.5 million Kenyans; about 3 million people have been infected by HIV/Aids; 1.5 million have already died due to the Pandemic and about 1.6 million Orphans have been left behind. Statistics further shows that about 7.6 million Children who’re in Primary Schools Education; more than 2 million are Orphans aged below 18 .Yes, 55-60% of these Orphaned Children have lost both Parents while about 11% do live with at least 1 Parent.
In the Western Province of Kenya alone and whereby I am born and raised; the total number of Orphans is totaling to 215,087, with Bungoma District leading with a total number of 4,435 orphans; among the 8 Districts that forms the Province (Kakamega; Busia; Lugari; Vihiga, Butere-Mumias, Mt. Elgon; Bungoma and Teso). This is from the 2002 UNICEF study report- as carried out among various Households. We may not forget the escalating figure of the left Orphans in Nyanza, which is by the leading province in Kenya, as well as other provinces that follows like Rift Valley, Nairobi,Coast etc.
Please note that we are as well reaching out to the Nyanza province whereby we have Street Orphaned Children, in Siaya town, Kogello Village (where the Father to Barrack Obama was born) as well as in the Kisumu City, in the slum area of Obunga. We have a total of about 80 Street Orphan Children in these places, and mostly affected due to the death of their parents as a result of HIV/Aids, (as Nyanza Province leads in HIV/Aids infections in Kenya), and we intend to incorporate them in the Kenya Orphan Rescue Project,KOREP.. Just in case you wish to visit the area where President Barrack Obamas' Father was born, then just get in touch with us on our contact information, and we shall take you there, not only to tour, but to get involved with the Children of this Project, and God shall bless you! We have some networking Churches in these places hence our project too getting roots in these areas.
Broader studies in Kenya, and in Africa at large further shows clearly that Most of these Orphans don’t have the access to the basic needs that their family parents could have provided, such as ;food security; shelter; clothing; education; health care; parental love; feeling of belonging etc. Note that 56% of the Kenya Children below 14 years; do fall categorically in this poverty line (leaving on less than a Dollar a day). Indeed; these Orphaned Children have continued to face myriad problems, including Sexual and Cultural abuse; HIV/Aids Stigma & Discrimination; Violence etc (where they’ve been used in War- torn areas i.e. Sudan; Rwanda; Uganda; Democratic Republic of Congo; etc while in Kenya they’re being mostly used in Child labor).
The Day of the African Child is celebrated every 16th of June every year in most African countries; and does marks the remembrance of over 500 children who were massacred in Soweto – South Africa in 1976 while protesting against Apartheid. Such vices that discriminates Children and suppress their Voice should be stopped! Actually; further Orphan impacts clearly shows that this problem has contributed negatively in the gains made in development such as in area of Agricultural and Food production; Educational growth; Family households Income, Resources allocation and Budgeting etc.
Consequently; the main strategy which can be used to address this Problem of the ever increasing Orphan growth in Kenya, and which we’re taking as a Faith Based Organization (F.B.O), is to strengthen the capacity of the Christian Family and the entire Community in timely responding towards the Orphans’ Psychosocial; Institutional; Health; Spiritual and Basic Needs Care. Indeed; caring for these Orphaned Children becomes our responsibility and together we can!
# OUR FOCUSED ACTIVITIES OF THIS PROJECT;
1. Educational Center Establishment;
We want to do fund raisings both locally and Internationally in order to Build a An Educational Center, comprising of Accommodation Rooms9where the Children who doesn’t have any Guardian can stay) as well as all Children to have access to a Health Care service, hence spare a Room(s) for a Clinic, Build learning Classes and an Administration Block /Office, as well as Staff Hostels and a Library.. Possibly you could be interested in helping us to start a Fund raising, or start an Initiative plea/pledge, then kindly contact us. ii,Fees Support.
We are out to identify individual sponsors who’ll be able to select each orphan child, and sponsor him/her with at least a Monthly contribution of US$ between 30-40, and above; so as to cater for the basic needs of that Orphan child. The virtual Parent/Sponsor is allowed to visit the child he/she will be Sponsoring in Kenya to see the Progress of the child in all areas. The sponsor is also allowed to communicate with the child he/she’s sponsoring through email/phone and any other means as well as sending any other gifts to the child i.e. clothes, books, shoes, funds, bicycles, uniform, computer support, etc. Note that The Sponsor will also help the Child up to the high level of Education or help him/her in taking Vocational skills training just in case the Child may not be bale to perform well for continued Education, and hence through accepting to Pay for their Sponsored Child Fees Support Needs

Iv, Scholarships.
In order to help our very needy, poor, but very bright children from our KOREP Project in Kenya, Africa (both girls and boys) who wish to pursue higher education levels, after completing their Primary/Lower grade levels, we are, and shall be, very much willing to network with various Universities, Foundations, Trusts, Charities, N.G.Os, C.B.Os, Companies, and Individual Celebrities, in areas like Business, Sports, Tourism, Media, Culture, Music, Theater, etc, towards seeking Opportunities for Educational studies for our Children.
Note that if your Organization/Institution may be having even just one or more Scholarship (for either High School learning, College, or University, etc) then kindly contact us so that we can inform our students to apply. Or in case you just wish to help at least one child or more, by accepting to pay for their fees, so that the individual needy but bright child(en) ,can pursue their higher education (may it for High School, College or University) then we would be happy to work with you. v, Spiritual Modeling;
We are out to stand in Prayer for these Children, so that we can raise up a generation that’ll withstand the enemy’s attack upon them.(Gen 22/17 & Ps 127/5) Above all, we aim at equipping these children to be able to: -
# Receive and accept Jesus as their personal Savior (See John 3/16, 1 John 4:4) etc
# Commit their lives to Jesus and make Him Lord! ( 2 Tim 2/21, Proverbs. 8/13 and Psalms 119/9)etc
# Know their true and living God intimately (Dan. 11/32, Phil. 3:10,Ps 9/10) etc
# Grow and be filled with the Holy Spirit. (Phil 2:9-11, Proverbs; 3/5-6, Eph. 5/18:4/13) etc.
# Learn how to Pray and Praise (. Psalms 56:8, Heb. 4:15) etc
# Learn to hate sin (Rom 16:19b) and live in the word of God (Psalms 119:127-130, 159-162), not forgetting to know how to glorify God with their bodies (1 Corinthians. 6/19-20, Rom. 12:1-2.) etc
# Know how to wait upon the Lord for strength and renewal (Isaiah. 40:31)
# Know and acknowledge that God cares for them and He is the father of all comfort and mercies( 2 Cor. 1/3-4 ,Lam 3/22-23, Heb. 13/5-6, Phil 4:19 ) etc
# Grow in repentance (John 3:19-21) and learn to hope always (Rom 4:20-21)
# Be able to walk in the wisdom of God (Psalm 37:4-6; Prove. 3:5-6, Eph. 5:8-10) and grow up into spiritual maturity (Luke 2:52)
# Know how to rightly choose partners and friends when they grow up (Prove. 12:4; Ps 1:2, John 15:13-14) etc.
# Know always that when they fear the Lord and obey Him, then they’ll not only get Honor; wealth; life and protection but the Lord their God will always hold their hands.( Prov. 22:4)etc.
2. Our Volunteers Exchange Program;
We shall open doors for both the local and International volunteers/Partners who want to visit these Children and help in either delivering care, doing gardening, teaching, counseling, give gifts etc to them. We encourage them to do fund raisings or mobilize for goods donations, in areas that they can feel like, with the aim of helping these Children. Here, you will see that we are in need of Volunteers in various Mission areas including the area of Orphan care, hence you can write to us if you are willing to come and Volunteer here with us. 3. Free Medical Treatment Volunteers;
We shall allow Volunteer Doctors and any other Health Team from both Local and International Organizations who would wish to either come to examine or deliver their free medical health services to these children. Medical kitty donations will also be accepted.

As at now, the Project has grown up, and has over 100 plus Children, being on our Help Need Program, but still living with their guardians. Nevertheless, our vision is to help 100 plus Children, if God will be with us towards meeting their basic needs, and we intend to place them in An Educational Center, where they will learn, get health care services, access to spiritual empowerment and counseling, get shelter especially to this Children who have no guardians to live with,etc. We thus intend to build this Center in future, just in case we identify Sponsors, or Friends or Partners, who will be willing to assist us in this Fund raising Dream!. Note that since I began this Project, the Lord has not yet so far connected me to Friends,Churches,Ministries,Institutions,or Foundations/Sponsors, Trusts, Partners etc who are willing to hold me hands and we go a head with this dream of assisting these wonderful Children of God-amen.. Therefore my appeal/Prayer is that if you could be touched within your heart and you may wish to Network/Partner or just send your help however little, then just contact us please. All the same, any Sponsor can send his help either financially or materially to these Orphans or any Orphan of his choice. With a contribution of at least US$ 30-40 every month or more, Indeed, one Child can be able to at least meet the main basic needs. We also accept donation Packages or Gift Boxes in form of food, shoes, clothes, books, both for reading/writing, fist aid kits, computers, new or recycled bicycles, medical kits etc aimed at helping these Orphaned and poor Street Children. To improve the welfare of the Street and Poor Orphaned Child in Kenya and enhance opportunities for the development of their full potential.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES
* To empower our Community People towards strongly defending the Orphaned Child from abuse and neglect.
* To collaborate and network with other Faith Based Organizations, Development Partners, Charities, Trusts, Foundations and Individual Sponsors both locally and internationally towards helping the Orphaned Child meet his basic needs.
* To provide an avenue for Legal aid and Counseling to any Orphaned Child who may be a victim of either Family Conflict; Sexual Abuse; Neglect or HIV/Aids stigma or discrimination.
* To spiritually empower the Orphaned Child and help him grow to maturity in morals; prayer; humility etc.
* To actively get involved and participate fully as a Faith Based Organization in the policy formulation with other stakeholders on issues affecting an Orphaned Child

o PROBLEM STATEMENT & JUSTICATION.

+ (Why there’s Need that Propels us to Implement this Project?)
Kenya has observed an upsurge in the number of Orphans, due to the high number of deaths from HIV/Aids related infections. Major studies and Data which have been done by such Organizations as UNICEF; in partnership with the Kenya Demographic Health Survey (KDHS) and the Ministry of Health (MOH) clearly estimates that out of the total Population of 31.5 million Kenyans; about 3 million people have been infected by HIV/Aids; 1.5 million have already died due to the Pandemic and about 1.6 million Orphans have been left behind. Statistics further shows that about 7.6 million Children who’re in Primary Schools Education; more than 2 million are Orphans aged below 18 .Yes, 55-60% of these Orphaned Children have lost both Parents while about 11% do live with at least 1 Parent.
In the Western Province of Kenya alone and whereby I am born and raised; the total number of Orphans is totaling to 215,087, with Bungoma District leading with a total number of 4,435 orphans; among the 8 Districts that forms the Province (Kakamega; Busia; Lugari; Vihiga, Butere-Mumias, Mt. Elgon; Bungoma and Teso). This is from the 2002 UNICEF study report- as carried out among various Households. We may not forget the escalating figure of the left Orphans in Nyanza, which is by the leading province in Kenya, as well as other provinces that follows like Rift Valley, Nairobi,Coast etc.
Please note that we are as well reaching out to the Nyanza province whereby we have Street Orphaned Children, in Siaya town, Kogello Village (where the Father to Barrack Obama was born) as well as in the Kisumu City, in the slum area of Obunga. We have a total of about 80 Street Orphan Children in these places, and mostly affected due to the death of their parents as a result of HIV/Aids, (as Nyanza Province leads in HIV/Aids infections in Kenya), and we intend to incorporate them in the Kenya Orphan Rescue Project,KOREP.. Just in case you wish to visit the area where President Barrack Obamas' Father was born, then just get in touch with us on our contact information, and we shall take you there, not only to tour, but to get involved with the Children of this Project, and God shall bless you! We have some networking Churches in these places hence our project too getting roots in these areas.
Broader studies in Kenya, and in Africa at large further shows clearly that Most of these Orphans don’t have the access to the basic needs that their family parents could have provided, such as ;food security; shelter; clothing; education; health care; parental love; feeling of belonging etc. Note that 56% of the Kenya Children below 14 years; do fall categorically in this poverty line (leaving on less than a Dollar a day). Indeed; these Orphaned Children have continued to face myriad problems, including Sexual and Cultural abuse; HIV/Aids Stigma & Discrimination; Violence etc (where they’ve been used in War- torn areas i.e. Sudan; Rwanda; Uganda; Democratic Republic of Congo; etc while in Kenya they’re being mostly used in Child labor).
The Day of the African Child is celebrated every 16th of June every year in most African countries; and does marks the remembrance of over 500 children who were massacred in Soweto – South Africa in 1976 while protesting against Apartheid. Such vices that discriminates Children and suppress their Voice should be stopped! Actually; further Orphan impacts clearly shows that this problem has contributed negatively in the gains made in development such as in area of Agricultural and Food production; Educational growth; Family households Income, Resources allocation and Budgeting etc.
Consequently; the main strategy which can be used to address this Problem of the ever increasing Orphan growth in Kenya, and which we’re taking as a Faith Based Organization (F.B.O), is to strengthen the capacity of the Christian Family and the entire Community in timely responding towards the Orphans’ Psychosocial; Institutional; Health; Spiritual and Basic Needs Care. Indeed; caring for these Orphaned Children becomes our responsibility and together we can!
# OUR FOCUSED ACTIVITIES OF THIS PROJECT;
1. Educational Center Establishment;
We want to do fund raisings both locally and Internationally in order to Build a An Educational Center, comprising of Accommodation Rooms9where the Children who doesn’t have any Guardian can stay) as well as all Children to have access to a Health Care service, hence spare a Room(s) for a Clinic, Build learning Classes and an Administration Block /Office, as well as Staff Hostels and a Library.. Possibly you could be interested in helping us to start a Fund raising, or start an Initiative plea/pledge, then kindly contact us. ii,Fees Support.
We are out to identify individual sponsors who’ll be able to select each orphan child, and sponsor him/her with at least a Monthly contribution of US$ between 30-40, and above; so as to cater for the basic needs of that Orphan child. The virtual Parent/Sponsor is allowed to visit the child he/she will be Sponsoring in Kenya to see the Progress of the child in all areas. The sponsor is also allowed to communicate with the child he/she’s sponsoring through email/phone and any other means as well as sending any other gifts to the child i.e. clothes, books, shoes, funds, bicycles, uniform, computer support, etc. Note that The Sponsor will also help the Child up to the high level of Education or help him/her in taking Vocational skills training just in case the Child may not be bale to perform well for continued Education, and hence through accepting to Pay for their Sponsored Child Fees Support Needs

Iv, Scholarships.
In order to help our very needy, poor, but very bright children from our KOREP Project in Kenya, Africa (both girls and boys) who wish to pursue higher education levels, after completing their Primary/Lower grade levels, we are, and shall be, very much willing to network with various Universities, Foundations, Trusts, Charities, N.G.Os, C.B.Os, Companies, and Individual Celebrities, in areas like Business, Sports, Tourism, Media, Culture, Music, Theater, etc, towards seeking Opportunities for Educational studies for our Children.
Note that if your Organization/Institution may be having even just one or more Scholarship (for either High School learning, College, or University, etc) then kindly contact us so that we can inform our students to apply. Or in case you just wish to help at least one child or more, by accepting to pay for their fees, so that the individual needy but bright child(en) ,can pursue their higher education (may it for High School, College or University) then we would be happy to work with you. Kindly contact us, if you feel your Organization or Group or Institution or you as an individual would wish to work/Connect with us towards giving a Scholarship(s),to our very Bright Children from our Project .
v, Spiritual Modeling;
We are out to stand in Prayer for these Children, so that we can raise up a generation that’ll withstand the enemy’s attack upon them.(Gen 22/17 & Ps 127/5) Above all, we aim at equipping these children to be able to: -
# Receive and accept Jesus as their personal Savior (See John 3/16, 1 John 4:4) etc
# Commit their lives to Jesus and make Him Lord! ( 2 Tim 2/21, Proverbs. 8/13 and Psalms 119/9)etc
# Know their true and living God intimately (Dan. 11/32, Phil. 3:10,Ps 9/10) etc
# Grow and be filled with the Holy Spirit. (Phil 2:9-11, Proverbs; 3/5-6, Eph. 5/18:4/13) etc.
# Learn how to Pray and Praise (. Psalms 56:8, Heb. 4:15) etc
# Learn to hate sin (Rom 16:19b) and live in the word of God (Psalms 119:127-130, 159-162), not forgetting to know how to glorify God with their bodies (1 Corinthians. 6/19-20, Rom. 12:1-2.) etc
# Know how to wait upon the Lord for strength and renewal (Isaiah. 40:31)
# Know and acknowledge that God cares for them and He is the father of all comfort and mercies( 2 Cor. 1/3-4 ,Lam 3/22-23, Heb. 13/5-6, Phil 4:19 ) etc
# Grow in repentance (John 3:19-21) and learn to hope always (Rom 4:20-21)
# Be able to walk in the wisdom of God (Psalm 37:4-6; Prove. 3:5-6, Eph. 5:8-10) and grow up into spiritual maturity (Luke 2:52)
# Know how to rightly choose partners and friends when they grow up (Prove. 12:4; Ps 1:2, John 15:13-14) etc.
# Know always that when they fear the Lord and obey Him, then they’ll not only get Honor; wealth; life and protection but the Lord their God will always hold their hands.( Prov. 22:4)etc.
2. Our Volunteers Exchange Program;
We shall open doors for both the local and International volunteers/Partners who want to visit these Children and help in either delivering care, doing gardening, teaching, counseling, give gifts etc to them. We encourage them to do fund raisings or mobilize for goods donations, in areas that they can feel like, with the aim of helping these Children. Here, you will see that we are in need of Volunteers in various Mission areas including the area of Orphan care, hence you can write to us if you are willing to come and Volunteer here with us. Please take a step forward and write to us. When you visit www.Goabroad.com , you will also realize that we have placed an advert for Volunteers, even in the www.idealist.org .
3. Free Medical Treatment Volunteers;
We shall allow Volunteer Doctors and any other Health Team from both Local and International Organizations who would wish to either come to examine or deliver their free medical health services to these children. Medical kitty donations will also be accepted.
N/B. Normal local health care services delivery shall continue at the Home every now and then.

* We shall forever network and partner with others to provide the needs of the orphaned children.

We are targeting Orphaned Children aged between 2- 10 years old (Both Boys and Girls). We have started already as you may see at the Picture below ; and we shall reach a maximum of 100 plus cases in case we identify, link and Identify other Local and International Organizations, Charities, Sponsors, Foundations, Individual Friends etc., who are willing to stand with us, or help this project.

For sure we know that, “They that wait upon the Lord shall mount up with wings” Isaiah 40:31. We know that if we entrust ourselves to the Lord and grow to learn on how to wait upon the Lord, then we stay assured of His help. Rom 4/20-21. We shall Pray and Wait upon Him even in this Project, for His Victory-Amen!

now I know this is a little lengthy and not ya average Spiritual Minded blog posting, but my bible tells me we are suppose to use our light to shine light on others who are in need... This brother reached out to me and we had extensive conversations on facebook and I promised I would post this on the site, I was goin to do a write up on but figured his proposal would better explain what they are doing over there in Kenya for da children, da orphans.....
